Churchill Downs Timeline Photo

Yesterday at Churchill Down I shot a corporate “Day at the Downs” event. On a little break I shot some of the horses after they crossed the finish line. I’ve had a few people ask if they can use the photo for their Facebook Timeline. I don’t have a problem with it, as long as my logo remains on the image…although Facebook has rule about not using a photo that is already being used on someone else’s cover, so that is between you and facebook

If you want to use this on your facebook Timeline cover:

1. Click on the Image below

2. Right-click on the image and save it to your computer

3. Upload to Facebook! I do not recommend using the image that is already on my timeline cover as it will be compressed each time it is uploaded and degrade in quality. Enjoy Derby Week!

SmugMug Photoshop Demonstration

Last night I spoke at the Louisville SmugMug Pro Group on Photoshop. We had large crowd with pretty varied experience levels, but hopefully everyone was able to get at least a little something out of it

As promised, here is the list of my favorite shortcuts. We didn’t get to discuss customizing them, so here is a link to a quick guide to customizing shortcuts.

Tammy’s Favorite Photoshop Shortcuts

Ctrl-D: Deselect

Ctrl-J: Duplicate layer

Ctrl-F (Customize this): Flatten

Ctrl-I: Invert (mask)

Ctrl- Shift-I: Invert Selection

Ctrl-Del: Fill with Background color

Alt-Click mask : show mask

B: Brush, [ ] Brush size, shift- [ ], brush softness

Alt-Click (using brush tool): Color Picker

Ctrl-Shift-Z: Undo Steps

Double click background layer – make it a regular layer

space bar – pan

Ctrl-minus/plus: zoom out and in

Ctrl-0:View All on screen

Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E: Duplicate visible to new layer.

Shift-Alt-plus: Cycle through blend modes

Ctrl-G: Groups selected layers

You can easily get a list of all 7 billion (give or take) keyboard shortcuts by going to File/Keyboard shortcuts, and then click on “Summarize”. This will generate a documents with all the assigned keyboard shortcuts.

Renee + Nick {Engagement Session}

It’s a little out of the ordinary for me to shoot an engagement session in January. However, we had some out of the ordinary weather, and I was pretty excited to shoot Renee and Nick after we booked their wedding this week. Since they are from New Albany, we thought this would be a great setting for their session. I still haven’t gone through the images, but I knew when I shot this image it was going to be a keeper, and just couldn’t wait to post a preview.

Sometimes the magic happens after the sun goes down…

Brown Family {Fall Portraits}

I went to elementary school with the Brown kids…a very, very long time ago. Thanks to the wonders of facebook I have reconnected with old schoolmates like my friend Jenny (see her adorable girls here). Joey is her “little” brother who I hadn’t seen since he was *this* big and now he has a growing family of his own. Here are some photos from the family session we did just over a month ago, and as you can tell, the family of three was shortly to become a family of four. I’ll soon be posting photos from last week’s session of their new baby boy.

The weather was cool, but we shot the session in bright sunshine at Papa John’s Headquarters. Stella was definitely a star! She had plenty of energy, and that might have been the most fun I’ve had shooting an almost-three-year old. Don’t you just love the pigtails?

Congrats to Joey, Anna, and Stella on new Baby Noah!
